چکیده

We are proposing Z Network Protocol (ZNP) as a network layer protocol based on ID/Locator split approach in the future Internet. ZNP is designed to satisfy the following requirements in terms of practical operation: (1) support of L3 protocol heterogeneity, (2) scalability of ID/Locator mapping system, (3) independence of mapping information management, and (4) avoidance of locator leakage beyond the administrative boundary. This paper proposes the mapping systems of ZNP; the Name Mapping System (NMS) and the ID Mapping System (IMS). To satisfy (1), the IMS is designed to be able to manipulate variable types of locators. To satisfy (2) and (3), the NMS and the IMS compose tree structure and the mapping information of a node is managed by the mapping agents in the domain to which the node belongs. To satisfy (4), ZNP introduces the localized mapping agents. To manipulate our proposing mapping systems, we designed and implemented Z Control Message Protocol (ZCMP) as an application layer protocol. The measured signaling overhead shows that the proposing mapping systems are practical for the future Internet.

Design and Implementation of ID Based MANET Autoconfiguration Protocol

Auto-configuration protocols are used for assignment of unique IP addresses to nodes in Mobile ad hoc networks. Without the assignment of unique IP addresses, service provisioning between the nodes is not possible. Such protocols use various heuristics to ensure the uniqueness in IP address assignment; such aspects increase the overall complexity in MANET system design. Moreover the overriding ...

OpenLISP: An Open Source Implementation of the Locator/ID Separation Protocol∗ †

The network research community has recently started to work on the design of an alternate Internet Architecture aiming at solving some scalability issues that the current Internet is facing. The Locator/ID separation paradigm seems to well fit the requirements for this new Internet Architecture. Among the various solutions, LISP (Locator/ID Separation Protocol), proposed by Cisco, has gained at...

Implementing the Locator/ID Separation Protocol: Design and experience

During the last few years, the network research community and the industry have been working on the design of an alternate Internet Routing Architecture aiming at solving the issues arising in the current architecture. It is widely accepted that applying a Locator/ID Separation paradigm would result in a more scalable and flexible architecture. As the name suggests, in Locator/ID Separation the...

Virtual ID: ID/locator split in a mobile IP environment for mobility, multihoming and location privacy for the next generation wireless networks

Current networking protocols designed around single interface stationary end-systems clearly fail to represent the present communication context of mobile, multi-interface end-systems. Also, the convergence of wired and wireless technologies into an all-IP (AIP) next generation network will make available multiple diversified contexts that can be leveraged for better fault tolerance, higher ava...

FIRMS – Demonstration of a Mapping System for Loc/ID Split Internet Routing in G-Lab

The interdomain routing system faces scalability and flexibility problems caused by the coupling of endpoint identifiers (EIDs) and routing locators (RLOCs) in today’s IP addresses. More scalable architectures (e.g. LISP [1]) based on the locator/identifier (Loc/ID) split paradigm are currently developed [2]. They separate addressing into two separate parts: the EID, which identifies an end sys...
